The History of the Aberdour Post Office

Aberdour is a coastal village of around 1,500 residents in Fife, directly North of Edinburgh across the Firth of Forth. There has been a post office in Aberdour since 1st February 1757 situated in various locations around the village.  In 1885 it was on the corner of Park Lane and High Street.  By 1907 it was on the north side of the High Street next to the Woodside Hotel.  During the first World War in 1914 it relocated to the East of the church hall, in what is now Antiques & Gifts. The village Post Office has been in its current location since the mid 1930’s, and the post box set into the outside wall the shop was installed before the second World War, around 1936, during the reign of King George 5th.
